Anatomy of a Friend

by Cheryl L Jestis

Her eyes see past my foolish mask of self-confidence
Two ears hear so far beyond the simple words that I say
I see the Holy Spirit on her face and Jesus in her smile
One mouth offers such praise, through lips of thanksgiving
A firm shoulder to lean on, the other is wet with my tears
Tow arms wrapped around me can soothe a weary soul
One hand offered to help and the other merely to hold
Her back grows stronger as we work together for our King
Two legs walk on beside me, sure feet to go the extra mile
Her knees bend so quickly to pray when my path is unclear
The anatomy of a true friend is simply a friend of my heart
